IMPORTANT CHANGES REGARDING OUR VOTING PRECINCTS

I am certain that most of you have heard about, or actually participated in our Absentee/Early voting that takes place 45 days prior to each election.  During the last major election in November 2008 more than 50% of our voters took advantage of this option.

After, much time and effort by our staff and election board, researching, and analyzing statistics of our voting for last year we feel that the Absentee/Early Voting is a fast growing trend.  Therefore, to meet this demand we have added an additional site, as well as a Saturday to our schedule, to better serve our voters.

Another change you need to be aware of is that we originally had, and have had for some years 18 precincts, plus absentee for a total of 19 precincts.  During this process, we have felt the need to combine some of our smaller precincts.  Therefore; after much consideration and calculations we will now have 11 voting precincts on Election Day. Below is a list of precincts that have merged:

Wilson Precinct merged with Cane Creek Precinct; creating the Center Post Precinct…this precinct will be at a new location at the Center Post Community Center.

Cedar Grove Precinct merged with Kensington Precinct, with the same voting location at the Kensington Precinct.

Pond Springs Precinct merged with Chickamauga and will remain the Chickamauga Precinct at the Chickamauga Civic Center.

Wallaceville Precinct merged with Chattanooga Valley and will remain at the Chattanooga Valley Precinct.

Chestnut Flat Precinct merged with Peavine to become the Rock Spring Precinct still located at the Peavine location.

Daugherty Precinct merged with Mountain precinct. Mountain Precinct will remain at the Mountain Location.

West Armuchee Precinct is merging with East Armuchee Precinct. This will become the Armuchee Valley Precinct and will remain at the East Armuchee Fire Hall.

All voters that are involved in these merges will be receiving new precinct cards well before the next election so that there is no question about the precinct a voter is assigned to.  We will also have this information published in the Walker Co. Messenger, and on various radio stations in the county.  If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact the Voter Registration office at 706-638-4349.
